Stats Analysis: Top Double Hitters Across Every Segment of the Game

In his latest column, PDC Stats Analyst Christopher Kempf delves into the performance of top players in specific doubling segments, highlighting the current strength of darts at the highest level. He notes that Phil Taylor’s remarkable accuracy with doubles set an exceptional standard, with his career accuracy on doubles standing at 43.5%. Despite the competition since his retirement, players like Gerwyn Price, who excels on tops with a 44.2% accuracy, have continued to thrive. Price’s dominance on double 20, which makes up 40% of his double attempts, has set him apart from the field. Ryan Joyce and Ross Smith also stand out for their proficiency on other key doubles, with Joyce excelling on double 16 and double eight, and Smith being the best on double one.

While Michael van Gerwen, despite his immense success over the years, does not top the accuracy rankings for the most common doubles, James Wade is the leader in overall double accuracy, achieving a 42.4% success rate. Wade’s consistent performance on doubles like the bullseye and double 12, along with his precise misses, sets him apart from many other top players. The analysis reveals that the post-Taylor era has seen a diverse range of players stepping up to the challenge, with no one player dominating across all doubles, illustrating the competitive depth in darts today.
