Gian van Veen will face his darting idol, Gary Anderson, in the quarter-finals of the Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton. Van Veen has been in exceptional form, averaging over 106 in his dominant 10-2 win over Ryan Joyce, and is excited to play against Anderson, a player he has admired growing up. Despite not having beaten Anderson before, Van Veen is confident he can maintain his high level of play. Anderson, who has impressed with his performances so far, acknowledged Van Veen’s brilliance but is focused on improving his own stage game to stay in contention for the title.
In the other quarter-final, Luke Littler will take on Jermaine Wattimena. Littler produced a stunning comeback from 8-4 down to defeat Mike De Decker, while Wattimena triumphed in a dramatic deciding leg against Dimitri Van den Bergh, surviving eight missed match darts. Both matches promise exciting action as the competition heats up.
