Connor Scutt and Wesley Plaisier secured two-year PDC Tour Cards on a dramatic final day of the 2024 Winmau Challenge Tour in Leicester. The event concluded with a double-header at Mattioli Arena, where Andreas Harrysson and Sebastian Bialecki claimed titles in Events 23 and 24. Harrysson achieved back-to-back wins, defeating Scutt 5-3 in the Event 23 final, while Bialecki sealed his victory in Event 24 with a narrow deciding-leg win over Ted Evetts. Despite being knocked out in the middle of Event 24, Scutt and Plaisier had done enough earlier in the tournament to finish first and second on the Order of Merit, earning them their Tour Cards.
Scutt’s excellent form, including three ton-plus averages, helped him reach the final of Event 23, while Plaisier, also a winner on the PDC ProTour, secured his Tour Card with a consistent year that saw him reach multiple finals. Both players had already qualified for the 2024 World Darts Championship via the ProTour Order of Merit, ensuring their spots at Alexandra Palace. Meanwhile, Christian Kist and Alexander Merkx secured the remaining two spots for the World Championship, finishing third and fourth in the Order of Merit. Kist will make his sixth World Championship appearance, while Merkx will make his debut.
