Wessel Nijman claimed back-to-back titles at the Winmau Development Tour in Wigan, defeating Nathan Rafferty in both Event 21 and 22 finals at the Robin Park Leisure Centre. Nijman won 16 consecutive matches during the double-header, establishing himself as the outright leader on the Development Tour Order of Merit with a £9,600 lead over Niko Springer. The 24-year-old Dutchman showcased his dominance, conceding only six legs in eight matches during Event 21 and later securing his seventh tour title of 2024.
Nijman continued his impressive form in Event 22, overcoming tough competition to secure another victory. He edged out opponents such as Marvin van Velzen and Dominik Gruellich to reach the final, where he once again beat Rafferty 5-3. With these wins, Nijman not only solidified his position atop the Order of Merit but also secured a spot in the Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts. The weekend’s action will continue as players compete for spots in Monday’s World Youth Championship Early Rounds.
