Wade Drops to Third Favorite as BoyleSports World Grand Prix Heats Up

James Wade has emerged as the third favorite to win the BoyleSports World Grand Prix in Leicester, with his odds being cut from 20/1 to 13/2 following a strong performance in the second round. The two-time World Grand Prix champion achieved a dominant 3-0 victory over Gerwyn Price, which contributed to a surprising night where all four matches favored the underdogs. Wade is set to face Belgian Mike De Decker, who advanced to his first televised quarter-final with a 3-0 win over Gary Anderson.

The competition remains fierce, with Joe Cullen and Dimitri Van den Bergh also facing off after eliminating Daryl Gurney and Dave Chisnall, respectively. Meanwhile, Rob Cross is positioned as a hot favorite at 4/9 to secure a semi-final spot against Ryan Joyce. Current champion Luke Humphries, who aims to defend his title, is the favorite at 11/10 as he prepares to compete against 2021 champion Jonny Clayton. According to Lawrence Lyons from BoyleSports, the recent upsets have boosted support for Humphries while also making Wade and Cross contenders to watch.

Additionally, the tournament has embraced a charity initiative, donating £20 each time a player hits double 20 during the matches. So far, the “tops” target has been achieved 309 times, resulting in a contribution of £6,180 to the chosen charity. The player with the most double 20s at the end of the tournament will decide which charity receives the funds.
