Michael Smith Returns to Basics in Preparation for Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts

Michael Smith is focused and determined as he prepares for the Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts, marking a pivotal moment in his season. The 2022 Grand Slam was a career-defining tournament for Smith, where he transitioned from a consistent contender to a proven champion. Following his Grand Slam victory, he went on to win the World Championship, and now, as he returns to Wolverhampton, he hopes to spark another turning point in his career. Despite being ranked world number two, Smith faces pressure to defend over £650,000 on the PDC Order of Merit, which could affect his position in the top ten if he doesn’t perform.

Smith acknowledges the pressure of defending his earnings, but remains confident in his ability to return to his peak form. Although he has not won a televised ranking title since his World Championship victory in January 2023, he has made notable appearances, including helping England win the World Cup of Darts and reaching the runner-up spot at the World Series of Darts Finals. Smith has been practicing intensively and is even building a dedicated games room and gym to aid his preparation. With a relentless schedule ahead, Smith aims to regain his top form and make a strong push for the upcoming World Championship.
