Luke Littler’s incredible rise in darts continues as he is nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. The 17-year-old, who has already been shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, has had a remarkable 2024, including his debut World Darts Championship final appearance at 16 and a fierce rivalry with World Champion Luke Humphries. Littler’s 2024 highlights include winning ten titles, including the Premier League and Grand Slam of Darts, and throwing four perfect legs.
He now joins Olympic gold medallist Keely Hodkinson, footballer Jude Bellingham, cricketer Joe Root, Paralympic cyclist Sarah Storey, and triathlete Alex Yee in the race for the main BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. The winner will be announced during the ceremony on December 17, with Littler following in the footsteps of darts legend Phil Taylor, who was a runner-up in 2010.
