Leonard Gates is excited for his second-round match against Nathan Aspinall at the 2024 Paddy Power World Darts Championship. The American, who made his debut in 2022/23, is aiming to reach new heights at Alexandra Palace after defeating Cameron Menzies 3-1 in the first round. Gates, the 2024 CDC Continental Cup champion, expressed his joy at the atmosphere in the venue, noting the strong support he received and the motivation it provided. He is on a strong roll after winning three CDC titles in 2024 and is eager to face Aspinall, knowing the importance of staying focused to avoid being overwhelmed by his opponent’s skill.
Gates has been praised for his recent performances, including his notable win over Peter Wright at the Grand Slam of Darts. As he faces Aspinall, he acknowledges the challenge but is determined to keep his momentum going. Wednesday’s session will also feature matches with Ricky Evans facing Gordon Mathers and Latvia’s Madars Razma playing Christian Kist, while Jim Williams takes on Paolo Nebrida in the opening round. The stakes are high as Gates looks to continue his strong form and potentially make a deep run in the tournament.
