Coates & Dudeney Claim First Titles as Springer & Barry Secure WDC Spots

Tavis Dudeney and Henry Coates secured their first Winmau Development Tour titles in a thrilling conclusion to the 2024 season in Wigan. Over 240 players competed in Sunday’s double-header at the Robin Park Tennis Centre, with Dudeney dominating Event 23 by defeating Jurjen van der Velde 5-0 in the final. Dudeney’s journey to victory included wins over Keane Barry, Nathan Rafferty, and Llew Bevan, capping off his breakthrough campaign. Meanwhile, Coates triumphed in Event 24, overcoming high-profile opponents like Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, Sebastian Bialecki, and Owen Roelofs to take home the £2,500 top prize.

Wessel Nijman had already claimed top spot on the Development Tour Order of Merit after winning seven titles this season, securing his spot at the World Championship. However, Niko Springer and Keane Barry, who finished second and third, also booked their places at Alexandra Palace. Springer, along with Poland’s Sebastian Bialecki, earned a two-year PDC Tour Card. The weekend wrapped up with a gripping battle between Bialecki and Danny Jansen for the final Tour Card spot, with Bialecki emerging victorious after Jansen’s quarter-final exit.
