Mike De Decker delivered the performance of his career to win the 2024 BoyleSports World Grand Prix, defeating reigning champion Luke Humphries 6-4 in a thrilling final at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena. De Decker, 28, came from a set down to storm into a 4-1 lead with clinical finishing, only for Humphries to level the match by winning three consecutive sets. However, De Decker regained his composure, securing victory in the deciding leg of the tenth set to claim his first televised PDC title and the £120,000 top prize.
This victory marks a historic moment for De Decker, as he becomes only the second Belgian to win a televised PDC event, following Dimitri Van den Bergh. His success also catapults him from 36th to 25th in the PDC Order of Merit. Reflecting on his breakthrough win, De Decker expressed pride in his performance and praised Humphries’ sportsmanship, while Humphries acknowledged De Decker’s resilience and predicted a bright future for the Belgian star in the world of darts.
