Stephen Bunting made a stunning comeback to defeat William Borland 3-2 on the opening night of the 2025 Winmau World Masters, after trailing by two sets. Bunting showed resilience, winning six of the last eight legs to progress. World number one Luke Humphries also won 3-1 against Joe Cullen, despite missing three match darts for a straight-sets win. Peter Wright triumphed in a thrilling five-set match against Kevin Doets, while Gerwyn Price dominated Florian Hempel 3-0. Rob Cross and Michael Smith were both eliminated in the first round by William O’Connor and Danny Noppert, respectively.
Other notable results saw Josh Rock beat Jermaine Wattimena 3-1, and Damon Heta secure a 3-1 victory over Ross Smith. The first round of the tournament concluded on January 30, with the second round scheduled for January 31. The tournament, which will feature a star-studded field, is broadcast live on ITV4 and other global platforms.
