Luke Littler, a 17-year-old darts sensation, has been shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award following a remarkable 12 months in the sport. Littler made history as the youngest finalist at last year’s World Darts Championship and has since claimed ten PDC titles in his debut professional year. His accolades include Premier League and Grand Slam of Darts victories, as well as a stunning nine-dart finish in the Premier League final. He joins an elite group of players to win ten or more titles in a calendar year and has equaled the record of four nine-dart finishes in a season.
Littler is competing for the award against skateboarder Sky Brown and para-swimmer William Ellard, having been selected from an initial pool of ten nominees. Reflecting on his achievement, Littler expressed pride in his contribution to popularizing darts and described the nomination as the perfect culmination of his exceptional year. The winner will be announced during the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show on December 17.
