Practice makes perfect. And you don’t need luck if you are good. But if you still are not that good YET (just like the rest of us), Lady Luck, if ever she is around and notices you, will definitely play a big part in your game.
Just like what happened at Anabu Darts Club’s (ADC) Quarterly Event late last month. Basically, ADC has these quarterly meets (on top of the regular/weekly MIMO event at Robinsons Place Imus), with lots of food, drinks, fun, and darts!
Anyway, so last October nga, medyo sinuwerte ako kasi seven na doubles teams lang ang present para maglaro. Except nandoon ang a handful of strong players ng ADC: si Sir Jomel Castro; of course, si Sir Dennis Genberg Jr. (our ever-gracious host); si Sir Rey Villanueva; si Sir Marvin Moreno; at ang up-and-coming-soon-to-be-a-force-to-reckon-with na si Steven.
Pero, it so happened na kakampi ko si Sir Choy, who was part of the four-man team from Anabu Darts Club that represented the City of Imus at the recent Inter-City Event at Darterong Pinoy 2023, held at Casino Filipino Tagaytay last September.
Even though absent ang mga asintados ng ADC, at least, well represented naman in terms of skills ang pool of teams that night. And long story short, I finally made my first “runner-up finish” at the end of that night’s mini-doubles tournament. Champion was the team of Ma’am Lhey Moreno and Sir Jomel; followed by the team of Sir Dennis and Sir Marvin as first runner-up; Sir Jojo A. and Sir Rey V. as second runner-up; and Sir Choy and I for the third runner-up place. It was a really fun night (siyempre kasi nanalo kami kahit papaano).
But what’s most important is the fact that the club continues to live up to what a club should really be. Apart from being a place where you can enjoy darts, compete with members, and participate in weekly and quarterly tourneys, the club ensures that everyone, in a way, is helping each become better at the sport. And more!
