Christian Kist and Alexander Merkx have secured their places in the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship after a thrilling finish to the Winmau Challenge Tour season. The Dutch pair qualified through the Challenge Tour Order of Merit, with the 2024 season concluding at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena on November 2-3. Although Connor Scutt and Wesley Plaisier finished first and second in the standings, both had already earned their World Championship spots through the ProTour Order of Merit, leaving two additional places available, which Kist and Merkx claimed.
Kist, who will make his sixth World Darts Championship appearance, clinched his qualification by winning three Challenge Tour titles in 2024, finishing third on the Order of Merit. Merkx, who will make his debut at Alexandra Palace, secured his spot with two Challenge Tour victories, finishing above Sweden’s Andreas Harrysson and his fellow Dutchman Danny Jansen. Due to 2024 Women’s World Matchplay winner Beau Greaves opting to compete in the WDF Women’s Championship, an extra spot for the World Championship will be up for grabs in the November Tour Card Holder Qualifier.
