Desert Showdown Set as Saudi Arabia Darts Masters Takes Flight

The stage is set for a landmark moment in world darts as the 2026 Riyadh Season Saudi Arabia Darts Masters gets underway on January 19-20 at the Global Theater, marking the sport’s first-ever visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Fresh from his triumph at the Bahrain Darts Masters, Michael van Gerwen will begin his bid for back-to-back World Series of Darts titles against India’s trailblazer Nitin Kumar in Monday’s opening round. The three-time World Champion headlines a blockbuster field, with eight PDC superstars going head-to-head against eight Asian Tour representatives in a true cross-continental showcase.

World Champion Luke Littler is set for another clash with Singapore’s darting icon Paul Lim, renewing their rivalry for the second World Series event in a row. Elsewhere, world number two Luke Humphries opens his campaign against Japan’s Ryusei Azemoto, while Bahrain runner-up Gian van Veen meets the enigmatic Motomu Sakai.

Former World Champion Gerwyn Price will face Filipino star and Asian Tour winner Alexis Toylo, as Nathan Aspinall and Lourence Ilagan reignite their rivalry following their recent Bahrain encounter. Stephen Bunting, meanwhile, takes on two-time World Championship qualifier Tomoya Goto, while Dutch number three Danny Noppert locks horns with Hong Kong World Cup quarter-finalist Man Lok Leung.

Following Monday’s opening round, the tournament reaches its climax on Tuesday with the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final all played in one bumper evening session, as the final eight battle for the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters crown.

Adding extra intrigue is a staggering $100,000 prize for any player who lands a nine-darter during the event. With the introduction of the Riyadh Season Bullseye, that reward could soar to $200,000, creating the biggest nine-darter prize in PDC history and raising the stakes even higher in the desert spotlight.
