Gerwyn Price is determined to make a strong impact when he begins his campaign at the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, aiming for a second Sid Waddell Trophy. He will face Keane Barry in the second round, and despite a somewhat underwhelming season, Price is full of confidence after several strong performances on the exhibition circuit. Having played in six exhibitions recently and reached multiple finals, including victories over top players like Michael van Gerwen and Luke Humphries, Price believes his game is at its best and is ready to dominate the competition.
While Price has struggled in TV ranking events this year, failing to progress beyond the last 16 in 2024, he remains confident that his recent form will propel him through the tournament. The 39-year-old, who won the World Championship in 2020/21, acknowledges that his mindset has been a key factor in his struggles but feels rejuvenated after reflecting during time off from competitive play. With solid preparation over the past few weeks, Price is focused on making a deep run in the tournament, emphasizing that the real competition begins after Christmas.
