Mike De Decker enters the Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts aiming to continue his remarkable momentum after clinching his first televised title at the World Grand Prix. His stunning performance in Leicester saw him defeat top players like Damon Heta, Gary Anderson, James Wade, and Dimitri Van den Bergh, ultimately securing the title with a thrilling win over world number one Luke Humphries. Now more confident than ever, De Decker believes his recent success proves he can excel on the big stage, and he’s eager to replicate this form in Wolverhampton.
At this year’s Grand Slam, De Decker will face tough competition in Group E, which includes 2022 Grand Slam champion Michael Smith, European Championship runner-up Jermaine Wattimena, and seasoned Austrian player Mensur Suljovic. As he prepares for the group stage, De Decker emphasizes the open nature of the tournament’s short-format games, which increase the potential for upsets. Ranked 25th on the PDC Order of Merit, the 28-year-old Belgian remains grounded but optimistic, eager to demonstrate his prowess in pursuit of a second major title.
