Jonny Clayton will face Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship after overcoming Daryl Gurney in a dramatic second-round tie-break. Clayton was in control at 3-0 up but nearly saw his lead slip away as Gurney fought back to level the match at 3-3. Clayton eventually sealed the win with his fourth match dart, admitting the late tension had him worried.
Clayton now faces Price, who has had a challenging 2024 but showed signs of resurgence with victories over Keane Barry and Joe Cullen. Despite being close friends, Clayton acknowledges the need to raise his level to compete with Price, as he dreams of lifting the trophy and extending his career in darts.
