The match was a significant upset, as Anderson continued his fine form, and will now face Ritchie Edhouse, who overcame Michael Smith in a thrilling 10-9 comeback.
The second round saw several exciting matches, with Luke Humphries continuing his exceptional run with a 10-3 victory over Jonny Clayton, maintaining his seventh consecutive ton-plus average. Jermaine Wattimena also pulled off a stunning comeback against James Wade, recovering from a 5-1 deficit to win 10-9, including a dramatic 124 checkout in the final leg. Other notable performances came from Ricardo Pietreczko, who beat Andrew Gilding 10-3, and Danny Noppert, who triumphed over Mike De Decker with a 10-6 win. The quarter-finals will feature a strong field, including Humphries, Wattimena, and the German Pietreczko, as players battle for a £120,000 prize.
