Michael van Gerwen has vowed to be fully prepared for his upcoming challenge at the 2024 Paddy Power World Darts Championship, despite a less-than-ideal preparation. The 35-year-old Dutchman, a three-time World Champion, is confident he will be ready for his second-round match on December 20, where he will face either debutant James Hurrell or Canadian veteran Jim Long. Van Gerwen, who has previously won the prestigious title in 2013/14, 2016/17, and 2018/19, is in a positive mood and remains focused on the task ahead, recognizing that the World Championship is the most significant tournament of the year.
Although his recent results at the Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals were disappointing, Van Gerwen remains optimistic about his chances at Ally Pally. He acknowledges the rise of new challengers in the sport, but believes the World Championship will bring out the best in the sport’s top players. Van Gerwen is confident that his experience will be crucial in navigating the unique pressures of the tournament, and he is determined to ensure his preparation is on track as he aims to secure his fourth World Championship title.
