Humphries Fortifies Position as Frontrunner in BoyleSports World Grand Prix

Luke Humphries has solidified his position as the frontrunner for the BoyleSports World Grand Prix, with his odds improving from 3/1 to 6/4 following strong performances in the tournament. Despite a shaky start in his opening match against Stephen Bunting, where he trailed after Bunting won five consecutive legs, Humphries rallied back to secure the win. He followed up with a more straightforward victory against Germany’s Ricardo Pietreczko, further enhancing his title defense.

As Humphries prepares for a quarter-final showdown with 2021 champion Jonny Clayton, he has been given odds of 1/4 to reach the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Rob Cross has seen his odds decrease significantly from 25/1 to 6/1 after advancing to the last eight with a win over Martin Schindler. Oddsmakers view Cross as a potential dark horse, especially with some top competitors like Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen already eliminated from the tournament.

Lawrence Lyons, a spokesperson for BoyleSports, indicated that while Rob Cross is gaining attention as a strong contender, Gary Anderson is still seen as a major threat to Humphries’ ambitions of winning back-to-back titles. Anderson is set to compete against Mike De Decker in the second round, with odds currently placing him at 4/1 as a challenger to Humphries’ supremacy in the tournament.
