An update on Week 2 of the American Darters Association (ADA)–Anabu Darts Club (ADC) Trial League, which is being held weekly at Sir Dennis Genberg’s home at Southplains Executive Village in Dasmarinas.
(Well, I can only relay here the games I played with my teammate Ronald Allan “Basti Boo” Porras, as we are playing our matches against other teams on schedules that are convenient for everyone.)
Anyway, Team Casper (composed of Jesus Emmanuel “Mark” Bacalando and Rey Villanueva) and Team BSTPN (composed of TheRonin and Allan) were scheduled to play last Sunday (Nov 5), but Mark injured his back from playing basketball. As such, we scheduled our game late into the week (Friday, Nov 10), hence the seemingly incomplete number of games played being shown on the match list above.
Well, Team BSTPN was overwhelmed with Mark and Rey’s onslaught once the duo warmed up after two games. Team BSTPN drew first blood by winning the first two cricket matches (Doubles event), before bowing to Team Casper over the next four matches of cricket and 501. Allan managed to pull a win against Rey in a singles match (501), bringing the match score to 3-4. The last four games saw Team BSTPN overwhelmed with a warmed-up Mark and Rey. In the end, Team Casper won their Week 2 match against Team BSTPN 8-3.
Therefore, the standing above would put Team Casper at second place with 15 points, while Team BSTPN will move to fourth place with 11 points.
The next games will see matches between Team DGMR and Team BSTPN, and Race Team 7 against Generation Bulls. Cobra will have a BYE (which means an automatic 6 points—so designed because of the odd number of teams in the trial league).
Another thing that is really interesting in this Trial League is the commitment being shown by everyone involved. There are no prizes to be won here—neither cash nor trophies. No awards. No best of anything.
In fact, everyone is just playing for the sake of playing and making sure the system works—the management, the scoring, the scheduling, the setting of matches, and everything in between.
And everyone is really taking time out of their busy schedules to be present for each other—for their matches, for their opponents. Everyone is investing their time, effort, and money—everyone brings something for everyone to enjoy during the matches, such as food and drinks. Special mention to Ma’am Susie Manansala, who is Dennis’s better half, for cooking food also for everyone.
It’s amazing that everyone is doing their best to really be able to make this trial league a successful one. Even without anything in return. And it’s equally amazing that ADC President Marvin Moreno, and his real partner in life Lhey Moreno, are also always present to show support, even if they don’t have a scheduled match. They are always present to make sure that everyone feels at home with the group (well, that is what I feel because my son Steven and I are the newcomers to the group). What an amazing group of people. I feel really lucky to be a part of ADC. I know Steven feels the same.
Week 3 match updates next week. Stay tuned, folks.
