Michael van Gerwen celebrated early 2026 success by claiming victory at the Promi Darts Championship alongside Joey Kelly in Bonn on Sunday evening.
The Dutch icon headlined the eighth edition of the Celebrity Pro-Am event, staged before 2,500 fans at the Maritim Hotel, with six PDC stars combining with high-profile partners for the unique showcase. World Championship runner-up Gian van Veen joined the field, alongside Gerwyn Price and Stephen Bunting, whom Van Gerwen is set to face in this year’s Premier League campaign.
Germany’s number one Martin Schindler and former World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall completed the elite PDC line-up, but it was Van Gerwen and musician and extreme athlete Kelly who ultimately stole the spotlight.
The duo sealed the title with a composed 3-1 victory over Aspinall and TV chef Alexander Kumptner in Sunday’s final, capping off an impressive run on German soil.

Earlier in the evening, world number two Luke Humphries and presenter Gülcan Kamps topped Group A, recording victories over Van Gerwen and Kelly, as well as Schindler and his partner Reiner Calmund, the former managing director of Bayer Leverkusen. However, Humphries and Kamps were denied a place in the final after succumbing to a 2-1 semi-final defeat against Van Gerwen and Kelly.
That result set up a decisive showdown against Aspinall and Kumptner, who had booked their final berth by overcoming Van Veen and influencer Cathy Hummels in the last four.
Despite that setback, Van Veen enjoyed a strong group-stage performance, as he and Hummels finished top of Group B. Their campaign included victories over Stephen Bunting and his partner Ailton, the former Werder Bremen star.
The Promi Darts Championship once again delivered a vibrant blend of elite darts and celebrity entertainment, with Van Gerwen emerging triumphant to add another accolade to his decorated career.
