Michael van Gerwen edged past Rob Cross in a dramatic last-leg decider at the World Series of Darts Finals on Saturday in Amsterdam, setting up a blockbuster quarter-final against world number one Luke Humphries. Van Gerwen hit a 122 finish on the bull in leg ten and a nerveless 111 checkout in the decider, after Cross missed a match dart. “It’s always tough playing Rob because you know what he’s capable of,” said Van Gerwen. “Rob is one of the best players in the world and I made it difficult for myself, but I’m really glad to win this game. There are signs that I’m coming back, but that doesn’t mean anything. I’m only in the quarter-finals, so I need to put my head on for tomorrow afternoon.”

Humphries averaged 101.87 and hit seven 180s to defeat home favourite Kevin Doets 6-4, setting up the highly anticipated last-eight clash with Van Gerwen. “I had a lot of support tonight which was great, and I’m looking forward to playing Michael tomorrow,” said Humphries. “Michael is a great friend of mine. I love him to bits and he thrives in these environments, so it will be a really tough game.” Other quarter-finals include Gerwyn Price against Chris Dobey, Josh Rock facing Mike De Decker, and reigning champion Luke Littler taking on Ross Smith. Price battled back from 3-1 down to beat Raymond van Barneveld 6-4, while Littler overturned a 3-0 deficit to defeat Jonny Clayton 6-4. Rock dominated Danny Noppert 6-0, and De Decker overcame Damon Heta 6-4.
The quarter-finals will take place Sunday afternoon at AFAS Live, with the semi-finals and final scheduled for the evening session. The tournament is broadcast live on ITV4 in the UK and through the PDC’s global broadcast partners, including Viaplay, DAZN, and PDCTV.
