Jeffrey de Graaf shocked his idol Gary Anderson with a clinical display of doubling, eliminating the Scottish icon early at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship. De Graaf, the Swedish number one, achieved a 75% success rate on doubles, securing his career’s biggest victory. Meanwhile, Paolo Nebrida also made history, becoming the first Filipino player to reach the last 32 with a straight-sets win over Ross Smith, thanks to exceptional finishing and three ton-plus checkouts. Callan Rydz and Dimitri Van den Bergh added to the upsets, sending Martin Schindler and Dylan Slevin packing.
The day featured high-quality performances, including Ryan Searle’s dominant 3-0 victory over Matt Campbell, and Joe Cullen’s eight 180s en route to a win against Wessel Nijman. Latvia’s Madars Razma also defied expectations, defeating Dirk van Duijvenbode. However, Ritchie Edhouse fell to Ian White, who delivered back-to-back ton-plus checkouts. The second round will wrap up on Monday with big names like Rob Cross, Dave Chisnall, and Jonny Clayton aiming to secure their spots in the next stage.
