Jonny Tata maintained his lead atop the DPNZ ProTour rankings after claiming Event Ten in Auckland last weekend, as he and Robb shared the spoils across the fifth ProTour weekend of 2025. Events Nine and Ten took place at the Howick Club on August 23-24, with both players producing standout performances.
Robb kicked off the weekend with a 7-3 victory over New Zealand number one Haupai Puha in Event Nine. “Following convincing wins over Tata and John Hurring, Robb overturned a 3-1 deficit to power past Puha in the Event Nine decider, reeling off six consecutive legs to clinch his first DPNZ title of the season,” the report noted. Robb had dominated the round-robin phase and posted successive whitewash wins against Jon Chester and Bailey Day, making his triumph well-earned.

Tata responded in Event Ten, averaging 99.49 to secure his third ProTour crown of 2025 with a 7-5 victory over Puha. “Puha appeared poised to triumph after establishing a 5-4 lead, but Tata produced a blistering burst in the closing stages, following up a stunning 170 checkout with an 11-darter on his way to glory.” Tata had also averaged 99 in his quarter-final win over Hurring and defeated Robb in a high-quality semi-final, preventing back-to-back titles for the latter. Earlier, Tata swept aside Brian Corbett and Zacarno King to reach the latter stages.
The Auckland weekend confirmed Tata’s dominance this season, ensuring he heads into the final DPNZ ProTour weekend in top spot on the overall standings. The sixth and final ProTour weekend will take place on September 27-28 in Canterbury, with the overall winner earning qualification for the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
