Littler Dominates in Antwerp as Vandenbogaerde Delights Home Crowd

Luke Littler stormed into the last 16 of the Blåkläder Flanders Darts Trophy with a flawless 6-0 victory over Dylan Slevin on Saturday, as Belgium’s Mario Vandenbogaerde produced a memorable run on home soil. Day Two in Antwerp featured 16 second-round clashes, with the World Champion returning to Belgium in commanding style.

Littler averaged over 101 and hit 100% of his doubles to record the first whitewash of the weekend. Fresh from winning the Lecot Belgian Darts Open earlier this year, the 18-year-old now eyes another European Tour title.

“When I came up on stage, it just felt like home,” said Littler.
“I love coming here. I’m glad to play well tonight and now I can focus on tomorrow.
“I want to win here, but it’s only my first game.
“Six out of six on the doubles, I don’t usually get that, so I’m very happy.”

Vandenbogaerde thrilled the Antwerp crowd by defeating Jonny Clayton 6-3, becoming the only Belgian to reach finals day and setting up a clash with Danny Noppert.

“Can you wake me up? I think I’m living in a dream,” said Vandenbogaerde.
“Yesterday Michael [Smith], now Jonny.
“I’m 52, I go to the oche and I tell myself to enjoy it.
“I hope tomorrow I can live another dream!”

Elsewhere, Stephen Bunting impressed with a 107-plus average in a 6-1 rout of Joe Cullen, while Gian van Veen upset Michael van Gerwen 6-3. Leon Weber stunned defending champion Dave Chisnall, and Mensur Suljovic edged Rob Cross in a last-leg decider. With seeds tumbling across the board, the stage is set for a compelling finals day in Antwerp.
