Kaya Baysal secured the JDC Winmau Junior World Masters title on Sunday in Milton Keynes, producing a composed straight-sets victory over Mitchell Lawrie to cap an outstanding weekend at Arena MK.
The final was a repeat of last month’s JDC Junior World Championship showdown, with the Burnley teenager delivering a clinical response to avenge his earlier defeat against the Scottish star. The opening exchanges were finely balanced, as Baysal struck first on tops before Lawrie replied with a neat two-dart 89 finish. Baysal edged the opening set after Lawrie missed a dart at double nine, then took firm control in set two with a superb 121 checkout on the bull, punishing further missed chances from his opponent to seal the title.

Reflecting on his breakthrough triumph, Baysal said: “It feels amazing to win this competition for the first time. To win a title on the big stage, this means a lot.” He also highlighted the growing rivalry between the pair, adding: “I’m sure me and Mitchell will have a rivalry for years to come… hopefully we can keep these performances up.” Looking ahead, the young prospect revealed: “When I turn 16, I’ll probably go to Q School next year, but I just want to keep doing what I’m doing.”
Both finalists had impressed throughout the Junior World Masters in Aylesbury before progressing to Sunday’s showpiece. Baysal was particularly dominant, not dropping a single set on Saturday and producing averages above 97 and 100 to defeat CJ Ayres and Jack Nankervis. Lawrie also enjoyed a strong run, overcoming Jack Johnson in the quarter-finals before battling past Harley Glycos in the semi-finals.
