Humphries Honoured at Windsor as Career Achievements Earn Royal Recognition

Luke Humphries marked another milestone in his remarkable darts career on Wednesday, as the 2023/24 World Champion received his MBE from the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle. The 30-year-old was formally recognised for his outstanding contribution to the sport after being named in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours List earlier this year, alongside fellow world champion Luke Littler.

The investiture ceremony capped a period of extraordinary success for the Newbury-born star, who has played a central role in darts’ global rise. Humphries enjoyed an extended spell of almost two years as world number one, driven by a sensational run of major televised titles that firmly established him as one of the sport’s dominant figures.

Humphries first announced himself on the world stage by lifting the 2019 World Youth Championship, before securing his maiden PDC Premier title at the 2023 World Grand Prix. That victory proved the catalyst for an exceptional run, which included triumphs at the Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship Finals.

His crowning achievement followed in January 2024, when he claimed the World Championship after a record-breaking final against Littler. Success continued throughout 2024, with Humphries adding the World Matchplay, World Cup of Darts, and a successful defence of the Players Championship Finals to his growing honours list.

He carried that momentum into 2025, capturing his first World Masters title before storming to Premier League glory in May. Reflecting on receiving the award, Humphries said, “It was a massive privilege and honour to receive my MBE from the Prince of Wales today.” He added, “This is a great achievement for me and my family, and I couldn’t have achieved this without them.” Emphasising his gratitude, he continued, “I’m very grateful for the platform I get as a professional darts player, and I’m very proud to have made such an impact and receive such a prestigious award.”

Humphries will return to the oche at the 2025/26 Paddy Power World Darts Championship in December, where he opens his campaign against Ted Evetts in a clash of former World Youth Champions.
