Smith & Bialecki Seal Twin Euro Tour Spots in Wigan

Michael Smith and Sebastian Bialecki completed a qualification double in Wigan on Wednesday, winning all six matches to book places at European Tour Events 3 and 4.

Former World Champion Smith progressed through the Tour Card Holder Qualifiers at Robin Park Leisure Centre to secure spots at the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze and the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich.

The St Helens star opened with a 6-3 win over Marvin van Velzen, then produced back-to-back 95+ averages to defeat Rob Owen and Ian White. The 35-year-old – winner of the 2023 German Darts Grand Prix – continued his form by whitewashing Pascal Rupprecht with a ton-plus average, before beating Jurjen van der Velde 6-2 and Tom Sykes 6-4 to complete a perfect day.

Bialecki matched Smith’s feat. The 22-year-old began by overcoming Tavis Dudeney and then stunned top seed Rob Cross 6-2 with a 103.30 average. He also defeated Mickey Mansell to confirm his return to Belgium, having last featured in Antwerp in 2024.

The Polish star then beat Madars Razma, edged past Greg Ritchie in a deciding leg and dispatched Kai Gotthardt 6-3 to clinch his double qualification.

Elsewhere, Sietse Lap secured his European Tour debut, while Cristo Reyes claimed a third straight qualification. Ryan Meikle struck a nine-darter in defeating Jeffrey De Zwaan on his way to Wieze.

Kevin Doets and two-time European Tour winner Kim Huybrechts advanced to Munich, alongside Stephen Burton, Thomas Lovely, Ritchie, James Hurrell, Adam Lipscombe and Brendan Dolan.

However, Cross, Dimitri Van den Bergh and Peter Wright were among the notable names to miss out.
