Price Vows to Raise Level After Antwerp Success

Gerwyn Price believes he is producing some of the best darts of his career after claiming Night Two honours in the 2026 BetMGM Premier League in Antwerp.

The Welshman bounced back from his opening-night disappointment in Newcastle by defeating Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton and Michael van Gerwen to climb to second in the early standings. He edged past Van Veen and Clayton in successive 6-5 thrillers before averaging over 104 to beat Van Gerwen 6-3 in the final at the AFAS Dome.

“It’s our first time in Antwerp and I managed to get the win, so I’m over the moon,” revealed Price.

“It’s good to get some points on the board early.

“Going out in my first game last week upset me a bit, especially after having chances to win the match.

“The game against Gian was really tough, just trying to get two points on the board.

“Once I had done that I started to relax, and next week I’ll be even more relaxed and hopefully I’ll play even better.”

Price has impressed throughout the opening weeks of 2026, defeating Luke Littler and Luke Humphries on the World Series circuit and narrowly missing out on silverware at the Winmau World Masters. He averaged 105.69 across seven matches at Players Championship Two, including stunning 117 and 111 averages against Van Gerwen and Luke Woodhouse, though he lost the final to Wessel Nijman.

“In patches I’m probably playing the best I’ve ever played, but so is everybody else,” conceded Price.

“I played brilliantly in the ProTours this week but it still wasn’t good enough, so I need to be even better.

“I think the fact the two Lukes are playing so well has probably kicked us up the backside a bit. I am practising more than ever now, and it’s paying off.

“I’m sure Michael [van Gerwen] and everybody else are doing the same, and it’s good for the sport because everyone is on their toes.”
